Indication: Subdural, seizures, trauma
Technique:
Sagittal T1 weighted, axial T2 weighted, axial FLAIR, axial diffusion weighted scans, with and without susceptibility weighted sequences were performed through the brain. No immediate complications were noted. ADC maps were constructed from the axial diffusion weighted scans after 3D post-processing from raw data.
Findings:
These images demonstrate no evidence of restricted diffusion. There is dilatation of the subarachnoid space overlying the frontal lobes bilaterally with no evidence of mass effect. In addition, there appears to be extra-axial collections overlying the frontal lobes bilaterally seen best on Key Image 1 of different ages. This also is true over the temporal region.
The posterior fossa structures show no signal intensity on the susceptibility weighted scan along the tentorium. There are also blood products seen along the interhemispheric fissure.
IMPRESSION:
Areas of hemorrhage along subdural space of the posterior falx, in the subarachnoid space overlying the high convexities bilaterally, as well as in the subdural space of the frontal region bilaterally of different ages and along the tentorium. Given the variable age is in appearances, nonaccidental trauma should be considered. The emergency department is aware of this possibility.
