This was a case of one
0:03
of how Dietz's patients
0:05
who had Loeys-Dietz syndrome.
0:07
This patient had a known aortic aneurysm,
0:10
and part of the evaluation was in the neck.
0:15
So as we scroll from the location in the
0:19
chest and we go further superiorly,
0:23
you can see the aneurysm which
0:26
is projecting from the aorta.
0:29
The aorta has marked irregularity
0:31
and tortuosity in and of itself.
0:34
But now let's look at the takeoff of the
0:37
common carotid artery on the left side.
0:42
And as you can see,
0:43
there is involvement here with circumferential pseudo
0:49
aneurysm formation that is extending from the aorta into
0:53
the proximal portion of the left common carotid artery.
0:57
And this, as you can see,
0:58
extends from the apex of the left lung into the neck,
1:05
and then displaces the internal carotid artery in the
1:09
jugular vein anteriorly from the lung apex.
1:14
So, a very large aneurysm,
1:16
which was part of the Loeys-Dietz syndrome,
1:20
extending into the left carotid,
1:23
proximal carotid,
1:24
common carotid artery into the carotid sheath.
