CLINICAL INDICATION: chest pain
COMPARISON: none
FINDINGS:
A asymmetric right pleural thickening minimally displaced lateral fourth and fifth right rib fractures are present with small adjacent extrapleural hematoma. Adjacent pleural thickening. Lungs are otherwise clear. No pneumothorax. Trace right pleural effusion. Heart size is normal.
IMPRESSION:
Acute-appearing right fourth and fifth lateral rib fractures with adjacent pleural thickening likely representing a small extrapleural hematoma. Small right pleural effusion may represent a hemothorax.
